A few months ago, we were notified that the management company we have used for the past few years would no longer be managing Chapters of the American College of Surgeons. The Board has been evaluating options for the future of the Chapter and ultimately set out on a search to find a new management firm.
I am happy to share the good news that, after careful consideration, we have contracted with Synergistic Management, LLC to provide Chapter management services for the MD-ACS. This company was formed by three experienced association management professionals, and you can read about them below.
We aren’t wasting any time to get the Chapter back up and running! Please join us in welcoming our new partners, Kathy, Wanda, and Janna, to the MD-ACS Chapter family. Together we are committed to the success of the MD Chapter and Maryland surgeons. Here are a few things you can expect in the short term and the coming year:

KATHRYN D. BROWNING has more than 29 years of experience in State advocacy and association management. Her past experience includes working with the Georgia Medical Association and the Georgia Society of General Surgeons. For the past 6 years, she has served as Executive Director for the Georgia Society of the ACS (GSACS) which has experienced unprecedented growth during her tenure, including the development of a Political Action Committee and much success advocating for surgeons and their patients in Georgia. Browning lives in McRae, Georgia.
WANDA G. MCKNIGHT is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with more than 25 years of experience in association management. She currently serves as Chapter Administrator for the TN Chapter, ACS, and Executive Director of the TN Health Information Management Association. McKnight’s early career was in health information management, and she is also a Registered Heath Information Technician (RHIT). A native of North Carolina, she resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
JANNA L. PECQUET has more than 15 years of experience in association management and currently serves as Executive Director for the Louisiana, South Texas, and Minnesota Chapters of the ACS. Her other clients include Louisiana Society of Anesthesiology, Louisiana Chapter American College of Cardiology, Surgical Association of Louisiana, American Society of Hypertension Gulf States Chapter, and the Greater New Orleans Pediatric Association. Pecquet has extensive meetings’ management expertise in collaborative, jointly-sponsored events and providing quality CME programming for various disciplines. She lives in New Orleans, Louisiana.
