Good News & Happy Holidays!

Thanks to the efforts of our American College of Surgeons (especially Christian Shalgian and his DC team) and all of you who contacted your legislators, we have some good news to close out this challenging year of 2020.

Legislation has been passed that apparently eliminates the Medicare cuts for surgeons that were scheduled for January 1, 2021. As an added bonus, the legislation includes language that is more in line with the College’s position on ‘surprise billing’. Our College leaders and advocacy team continue to evaluate the language in this legislation, but all indications are that this legislation is a victory for surgeons and our patients.

This is a grand example of the power of grassroots advocacy. On behalf of the MD-ACS Executive Council, I thank you and ask that you stay involved in the Chapter and ongoing advocacy efforts.

Best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Holiday Season!
